DHAKA, Jan 07, 2024 (BSS) - The voting in 12th Jatiya Sangsad election continues peacefully except some separate incidents in a few polling centers across the country as the voter turnout is seen moderate till 1pm.
Voter presence was moderate till 1 pm and their overall attendance was on the rise with the passage of times amid chilling weather that gripped the country for the last couple of weeks, media reports said.
"The overall voting environment was peaceful across the country except some sporadic incidents", said Jatiya Party Chairman GM Kader after visiting some polling centers under his constituency.
Enthusiasm was seen among the women and the new voters who were seen exercising their right to franchise in queues at different polling centers throughout the country.
Particularly, the presence of women voters was notably huge at Ullapara and other six constituencies in Sirajganj district.
"People are casting their votes amid festivity that has proved the defeat of the movement of BNP and its allies. The presence of huge voters has proved BNP's defeat", said Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader after voting at a centre of Basurhat in Noakhali district this morning.
In Khulna, the voters turnout is rising in different centers including Gutudia Ankur Chandra Golder Govt. Primary School under Khulna-5 (Dumuria-Phultala) constituency.
The voting was seen progressing peacefully in Dhaka-19 (Savar-Ashulia) and Dhaka-20 (Dhamrai) constituencies as a total of 17 candidates are participating in these two constituencies.
The presence of the female voters along with male voters is seen apparently rising in these two constituencies.
In Pirojpur-2 (Bhandaria-Kaukhali-Nesarabad) constituency, the vote is taking place in a peaceful situation as no violence was reported till filling the report at 1pm.
