Election draws 18 percent voters in four hours

 DHAKA, Jan 7, 2024 (BSS) - The country today witnessed turnout of 18 percent voters in four hours since the start of the nationwide voting at 8 am, Election Commission officials said.

 "Some 18.50 percent votes were casted in four hours after the polling began," Election Commission Secretary Mohammad Jahangir Alam told reporters.

 He said the highest 22 percent voter turnout was recorded in southwestern coastal Barishal division and the lowest 13 percent voters casted their votes in northwestern Rangpur division.

 Unitary Bangladesh has eight administrative divisions and 64 districts.

 The voting for the 12th Jatiya Sangsad elections will continue until 4 pm.
