DHAKA, Jan 15, 2024 (BSS) - Bhorer Kagoj senior reporter Kamruzzaman Khan and Jugantor senior reporter Sirajul Islam have been elected as president and general secretary of Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) respectively for the next one year.
The result was announced on the premises of CRAB Bhaban this evening following the voting from 10am to 4:30pm without any break.
Kamruzzaman was elected president with 170 votes defeating Esaraf Hossain Esa who got 117 votes.
Sirajul Islam was elected general secretary securing 87 votes while other opponents - SM Nuruzzaman got 74 votes, SM Badsha got 71 votes and Dulal Hossain secured 54 votes.
Shahin Abdul Bari was elected vice-president bagging 123 votes, Dipon Dewan was elected joint secretary getting 173 votes, Harolal Ray Sagar became treasurer receiving 153 votes, Shahidul Islam Razi was elected organizing secretary with 190 votes, Kamal Hossain Talukder office secretary with 153 votes, Nehal Hasnain was elected publicity and publication secretary with 161 votes, Rokibul Islam Manik was elected uncontested sports and cultural secretary, Wosim Siddique welfare secretary with 176 votes, Ismail Hossain Imu training and information technology secretary was elected uncontested, and international secretary Shahin Alam with 136 votes.
Executive members are Ali Azam, Md Abu Daud Khan, and Sheikh Kalim Ullah.
