DHAKA, Jan 18, 2024 (BSS) - Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Kazi Habibul Awal today said the nation has come out of crisis and concern through successful completion of 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) elections held on January 7.
“But it is not the permanent solutions. If crisis is created centering elections after an interval of every five years, the country’s development will get hampered,” he told a thanks-giving ceremony at Agargaon’s Nirbachan Bhaban here.
EC secretary Md Jahangir Alam chaired the function while four other election commissioners and commission’s officials and employees were present.
The CEC underscored the need for reformation of the electoral process to make polls more acceptable.
Habibul Awal said a big political party not only boycotted the polls but also tried to resist it.
The people are now feeling comfortable as the polls have been done successfully, he said.
