KUSHTIA, Jan 21, 2024 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif today said that the 12th parliamentary election has been accepted in Bangladesh and foreign countries.

“Election has already been accepted in the country and abroad. So, someone may get mental peace by talking about this election. But, there is no other benefit over this discussion,” he told journalists while inaugurating Rahima-Afchar Smrity T-20 tournament on Mohini Mill ground here.

People made the elections participatory by enthusiastically casting vote in festive atmosphere, he said, adding that thus, they decided that it was an acceptable election.

Regarding the opposition party, Hanif hoped that Jatiya Party (JaPa) would play an important role as an opposition party if the party is elected.

About the organizational situation of the party after the election, AL joint general secretary said that many leaders and workers of the party became independent candidates as there was no barrier for them to take part in the elections.

He said that the confusion, created within the party regarding the national elections, will not exist ahead of the upazila parishad elections.
