DHAKA, Jan 22, 2024 (BSS) - Muhammad Emdad Hossain, an amateur hobbyist changed his life with photography along with bringing fame for his own and the country by securing as many as 150 international awards from about 40 countries.
Emdad, first prize winner of the Bangabandhu Best Photography Competition in 2019, hailed from Wahedpur village of Mirsarai upazila of Chattogram district.
Emdad, a student of honours of Political Science Department of Chattogram College, came to know about the earning from photography via Face book. It inspired him to take part in different competition of photography.
Later, he used to capture pictures of natures on his mobile phone and submitted those in different competitions.
It was difficult for his father to buy a camera as he had to maintain a family of many members from the earning of a small business.
To carry forward his hobby Emdad took loan from a local NGO in 2016 to buy a camera. After that, the story of success of Emdad began.
He started taking part in different competitions and turned him into a professional photographer. His brilliance made it possible to get many prizes from home and abroad.
So far he received 150 international awards from about 40 countries. His photos were published in about 100 newspapers and magazines across the world.
So far he received awards from home and abroad include Photography Grand Progress Award on climate changes in 2021, World Meditation Day Photography Award of Quantum Foundation in 2022, runner up in Made In Bangladesh Photography Award in 2022 and Student Photography Exhibition and Plastic Pollution Competition Award in 2023.
Besides, he received Heritage for Planet Earth Grand Final Award in Italy in 2019, first prize of German Our Daily Lives Art Prize for Photography in 2020, first prize of B-Steel Media in US, first prize of Kenya UNP Only One Earth Photography Contest in 2022 and first prize of Austria Wart in Build International Photography.
“At the beginning I used to capture pictures through my mobile phone. Later, I bought a camera by taking loan from an NGO and started to take part in different competition of the country. After that, I’ve started to participate in international photography competition. I’ve got 150 international awards from about 40 countries,” he said.
Emdad was an adjudicator of an international photography competition organized by Wikipedia in 2023.
Photography not only earned name and fame for Emdad but also gave him financial ability. He fulfilled his dream to build his own home from the earning of photography. Now he earns about Taka one lakh every month from the photography.
Now Emdad is working with four international news and photo agencies of Italy, UK and US.
