DHAKA, Jan 25, 2024 (BSS) - Fisheries and Livestock Minister and Awami League (AL) Presidium Member Md Abdur Rahman today urged the businessmen to sell their products with less profit during the holy month of Ramadan.
"Meetings were held with the stakeholders to supply milk, egg, fish and meat at fair prices during the month of Ramadan. Besides, fish, meat, milk and egg will be sold through mobile system among the marginal and low-income people during the Ramadan," he said.
The minister said this while inaugurating a workshop titled 'Livestock sector in Bangladesh: Problems and Possibility' organized by Livestock and Dairy Development Project at an auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) here.
Abdur Rahman said the entrepreneurs who are involved with the production have the right to get fair prices of their products. But there are middlemen between producers and consumers and they (middlemen) sell at high prices in city areas, he said, adding they should be restrained.
He said Bangabandhu's daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly for the unprecedented development of the country.
Fisheries and Livestock secretary Md Selim Uddin addressed the workshop as special guest with Department of Livestock Services DG Dr Md Emdadul Haque Talukder in the chair.
