DHAKA, Jan 28, 2024 (BSS) - Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested a fugitive life-term convict from the city's Chawkbazar area.

The arrested was identified as Md Zafar, 40, son of Sofiq Ahmed alias Sukkur Ali, a resident of Bhola district, Deputy Director of RAB-10 Aminul Islam told BSS today.

"Acting on a tip-off, a team of RAB conducted a drive in the aforesaid area at around 7:15pm on Saturday and arrested him," he said.

A case was filed against him with Chittagong Kotwali police station in 2012 for possessing illegal firearms. Later, a court, in absentia, sentenced him to 22 years of jail.
