DHAKA, Jan 28, 2024 (BSS) - Jatiya Party (JaPa) will distribute nomination forms for elections and by-election to city corporations, municipalities and union parishads (UPs) from February 1 to 12.

The party will distribute and receive nomination forms from 10 am to 4 pm except Fridays at JaPa Chairman's office in city's Banani, a party press release said today.

Aspirant candidates are requested to collect nomination forms with necessary papers from the party's Banani office, the release added.

Election to 233 local government bodies, including by-polls to Cumilla City Corporation (CCC) and election to Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC), will be held on March 9.

Election Commission (EC) secretariat secretary Jahangir Alam announced the polls schedule at a press conference held at Agargaon Nirbachan Bhaban on January 24.

According to the schedule, the last date for submission of nomination papers to the returning officers is February 13 and nomination papers will be scrutinized on February 15.

Appeals against cancellation of candidatures will be settled on February 19 and 20.
 

The last date for withdrawal of candidatures is February 22 and symbol will be distributed on February 23.
 

Voting will take place from 8am to 4pm on March 9.
