DHAKA, Jan 29, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today placed two persons, arrested in a case lodged for demanding extortion and threatening to kill meat trader Khalilur Rahman in capital's Shajahanpur area, on two days of remand each.
The two remanded accused are- Md Nurul Haque and Mohammad Emon.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Zaki Al Farabi passed the order as police produced the duo before the court and pleaded to place them on seven-day remand.
According to the case documents, the accused demanded Taka 25 lakh from Khalil, popular for his efforts to bring down the ever-growing price of meat in the capital, and threatened to kill him and his son.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested the duo from Ashulia, Savar, on early Sunday. They confessed their crimes in primary interrogation, RAB said.
