DHAKA, Jan 29, 2024 (BSS)- Azizul Islam Bhuiyan and Salim Ullah Selim have been elected as president and general secretary respectively in Muktijoddha Sangbadik Command (Freedom Fighter Journalists Command) held at Jatiya Press Club here.

A total of 35 voters out of 41 casted their votes. Bhuiyan bagged 26 votes while his nearest candidate Tarun Tapan Chakrabarti got nine votes, said a release.

Selim bagged 21 votes while his nearest candidate Kartik Chatargee got 14 votes.

Besides, Abu Taher, Akram Hossain, Mrinal Krishna Roy and Syed Ahmeduzzaman have been elected as executive committee members.

Earlier, AKM Karam Ali elected as vice president, Mafizul Islam as joint secretary, Swapan Das Gupta as treasurer, Md Nurullah Khandaker Tareq as office secretary and Khorshed Ali elected as publicity secretary unopposed.

Zafar Iqbal, Chapal Bashar and Mainul Haque Bhuiyan conducted the election.
