DHAKA, Feb 1, 2024, (BSS) - BNP standing committee member Mirza Abbas has been shown arrested in nine separate cases filed with Ramna and Paltan Model Police Stations in the capital.
As Abbas was produced before the court today, Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury and Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Sohag Uddin accepted separate pleas to show him arrested in five cases with Paltan Model Thana and four cases with Ramna Police Station, respectively.
Earlier, on Wednesday, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Rezaul Karim set today for his bail hearing.
On October 28, a chaos broke out as BNP leaders and workers entered into a clash with police in the city's Nayapaltan and its surrounding areas during BNP's grand rally.
Amid the clash, BNP men allegedly attacked on the residence of the Chief Justice (CJ) and broke one of its gates and damaged its nameplate.
A total of 11 cases were filed against Abbas following the incidents.
The BNP standing committee member was arrested from city's Shahidbagh area by police on October 31 and was placed on a five-day remand.
