DHAKA, Feb 02, 2024 (BSS) - Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said the investigation into the journalist couple Sagar-Runi murder case will continue until the real criminals are identified and detained.
"I feel sad actually, even if I say something good for you, you take it differently. My earlier statement on giving time for probing the case is being presented differently. I talked about giving 50 years time for probe if necessary, in relative terms. I meant, we will bring to justice the people who have committed that crimes, we will detain them no matter how long it takes," he said.
The law minister said these while talking to newsmen in Akhaura, Brahmanbaria, this morning. Akhaura Awami League president Mohammad Ali Chowdhury and general secretary and municipality mayor Takzil Khalifa were present on the occasion, among others, an official release said.
Anisul said there is an instance in the United Kingdom, where killers were nabbed 42 years after committing the crime, adding, "Even in the US, recently mystery behind the murder case had been revealed after 24 years."
The law minister reached Akhaura from Dhaka around 10:15 am. He was received at the Akhaura Railway Station by the leaders and activists of his party.
Anisul is scheduled to join a mass reception to be accorded to him at Kasba Upazilla this afternoon.
He will inaugurate a bridge at Dhorkhar union under Akhaura upazilla and attend a rally tomorrow.
