WZ to install CC camera in trains to ensure security

RAJSHAHI, Feb 4, 2024 (BSS) - The West Zone (WZ) of Bangladesh Railway is going to install close circuit (CC) cameras in 24 intercity and express trains for ensuring security to passengers.
 
Asim Kumar Talukder, General Manager of the zone, said their ministry has given instructions for installing CC cameras in trains to protect those from sabotage.
 
He said CC cameras remained in both inside and outside of some of the trains and monitor connection will be installed for these. CC cameras will be installed in the rest of the trains. "We will start installation works of those within a shortest possible time," he added. 
 
Asim Talukder said 130 trains run in different routes, including Dhaka, from Paksey and Lalmonirhat of the zone daily. From Rajshahi station, 37 pairs of trains carry around 50,000 passengers.
 
Apart from the four intercity trains namely Bonolota, Dhumketu, Silk City and Padma, running between Rajshahi-Dhaka, CC camera will be installed in the Simanta Express train, an intercity train from Chilahati to Khulna, on priority basis. 
 
Besides, Panchagarh express, Drutajan Express, Ranpur express, Kurigram express, Lalmoni express and Ekota express will be brought under CC camera.
 
In phases, CC cameras will be given to other trains. However, General Manager Asim Talukder said 55 mail 30 local trains in the west zone will not be brought under the modern facilities at this moment as those are operating on the short distance routes.
 
Asabul Haque, Chief Commandant of Railway Nirapatta Bahini (RNB), said they provide security to railway tracks, trains and other installations in addition to passengers and goods.
 
Inspite of their limitation, they perform their duties with utmost sincerity and honesty, he said, adding security to the passengers and assets will be enhanced to a greater extent upon successful installation of CC cameras in trains.
