DINAJPUR, Feb 6, 2024 (BSS) - Four people, including a rickshaw van driver, were killed after being hit by a bus of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) on the Dinajpur-Rangpur highway at Pakerhat road junction area under Chirirbandar upazila of the district today.
The identities of the deceased could not be known immediately. The deceased included two Chakma citizens who came to sell honey, a rickshaw driver. The other is a resident of Ranibandar market in Chirirbandar upazila of the district.
The accident occurred when a Rangpur-bound BRTC bus from Dinajpur hit the rickshaw standing at Pakerhat road junction around 9am this morning leaving four people including three passengers and a rickshaw van driver dead on the spot, officer-in-Charge (OC) of Chirirbandar Police Station Abul Hasnat Khan said.
Police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent to the Dinajpur M Abdur Rahim Medical College and Hospital morgue.
Police seized the BRTC bus but its driver managed to flee, the OC said.
Legal action is under process, the OC added.
