Palak lauds contribution of Apon enterprise to country's development

DHAKA, Feb 7, 2024 (BSS) - State Minister for Post, Telecommunication and Information Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak today praised country's visionary enterprise named 'Apon' as it has been steadfast in its mission to uplift low-income communities with pioneering financial solutions.

"Apon exemplifies the potential of innovative startups to tackle crucial social issues, he said, adding that their ongoing contributions to Bangladesh's development are invaluable and commendable," he said.

The state minister came up with the appraisal while addressing 'Apon Investment Announcement Ceremony' held at a city hotel as chief guest.

In this ceremony, it was informed that Apon raised pre-seed foreign and local Investment of 1.5 million dollar (USD).

"Apon has significantly transformed the lives of workers, especially those in the RMG sector, through various initiatives. By providing access to financial services like interest-free grocery credit, purposeful loans, and installment facilities for household appliances, Apon has facilitated financial inclusion, enabling workers to manage their finances effectively," Palak said.

"Apon's achievements are a beacon of innovation and social responsibility in the startup landscape. Their focus on empowering the underserved is not just commendable but sets a new standard for how businesses can contribute to societal progress," Palak said.

"I am eager to witness their continued growth and impact," he added.

Faruque Hassan, President of Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) and Sami Ahmed, Managing Director of Startup Bangladesh Ltd spoke as special guests, among others.

Speaking on the occasion, BGMEA President said Apon's commitment to enhancing the lives of industrial workers and promoting financial inclusion is truly commendable. 

Various industries including fintech, retail, manufacturing, banking and the startup ecosystem also attended the ceremony.
