BNP introduces militancy, violence in country: lawmakers

SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 12, 2024 (BSS) - Treasury bench lawmakers today said the incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has presented development to the nation during her regime while the BNP gave militancy, terrorism and violence to the nation.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during her regime transformed the country into a role model of development while the BNP led four party government has introduced terrorism, militancy and anarchy in the country, said the lawmakers while taking part in the general discussion on a thanksgiving motion on the President's speech in the House here with Deputy Speaker Shamsul Huque Tuku in the chair.

Taking part in the discussion, senior ruling party lawmaker Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim said, "BNP is not a political party at all as the party has no respect to the law of the land, constitution and democracy".

"BNP is an organization of anti-liberation forces including militants and terrorists while the ruling Awami League led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina transformed the country to a role model of development," said the lawmaker of Gopalganj-2.

The lawmaker, however, said the President in his 130-page speech projected the country's good governance, development of skilled youth forces, local government, development of indigenous people and the defense of the country.

The present government led by the Awami League is working for building the country as Sonar Bangla dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said Sheikh Sharhan Naser Tonmoy, MP, of Bagerhat-2.

While addressing on the current development activities, the ruling party lawmaker said BNP and its allies during their regime introduced violence and militancy in the country while Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has constructed Padma Bridge, elevated express way and the metro-rail.

The ruling Awami League led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working for building a smart Bangladesh by the stipulated timeframe of 2041, said Nurunnabi Chowhdhury, MP, adding, "Prime Minister materialized all the development activities as per the electoral manifesto while BNP has imported militancy and violence in the country during their regime".

Ruling party lawmakers State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, Mohammad Abdul Waheed of Mymensingh-11, Abdul Kader Azad of Faridpur-3, SM Shahjada of Patuakhali-3, Asaduzzaman Asad of Rajshahi-3, Ferdous Ahmed of Dhaka-3, Mujibur Rahman Majnu of Bogura-5, Shafiul Alam Chowdhury Nadel of Moulvibazar-2, Azizul Islam , Azizul Islam of Jasshore-6, Dr M Abdul Aziz of Sirajganj-2, Mohiuddin Ahmed of Munshiganj-1, Hamidul Huque Khondoker of Kurigram-2, Moyzuddin Sharif of Hobiganj-2 and Abdus Saboor of Cumilla-1, among others, spoke on the occasion .

The lawmakers highlighted the successes of the present government in different vital sectors, including education, power, agriculture, health, infrastructure development, economy and food production sectors.

Earlier, they paid rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his contribution to establishing an independent Bangladesh.
