Sharif inaugurates Water Supply PPP project at Purbachal

    DHAKA, Sept 14, 2021 (BSS) - State Minister for Housing and Public Works Sharif Ahmed today inaugurated the Purbachal Water Supply Public Private Partnership (PPP) project to supply water to the Purbachal New Town project area near the capital.

     Aiming to supply 340 million liters of water daily in the Purbachal New Town project area, 320 kilometers (km) pipeline network, 15 deep tube-wells, an administrative building and a workshop will be constructed under this project, a press release said.

     A total of 30 million liters of water will be supplied daily from deep tube-wells, it added.

     Negotiations are underway with Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (WASA) to supply the remaining 310 million liters of water of the total demand.

     The duration of the project is 15 years from 2021 to 2035, the release said, adding that of these, four years are for construction from 2021 to 2024 and a total of 11 years from 2024 to 2035 for operation and maintenance.

     On the same day, the state minister also laid the foundation stone for the construction of Pragati High School building, Paul Khan High School and Purbachal Adarsho Bidyaloy and College building in Purbachal New Town project area and planted useful tree saplings in the school areas.

     Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Md. Shahid Ullah Khandaker and Secretary to the Prime Minister's Office and Chief Executive Officer of the Public Private Partnership Authority Sultana Afroz were present there, among others.
