DHAKA, Feb 15, 2024 (BSS) - The 25th death anniversary of Kazi Aref Ahmed, one of the organizers of Liberation War and heroic Freedom Fighter, will be observed tomorrow.
On the eve of the day, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today paid profound respect to the memory of heroic freedom fighter Kazi Aref Ahmed marking his death anniversary.
Kazi Aref Ahmed was killed by some terrorists when he was attending an anti-terrorism rally at a playground near Kalidaspur Bazar of Daulatpur in Kushtia on February 16, 1999.
In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said the heroic freedom fighter and renowned politician Kazi Aref Ahmed had played very active role in Liberation War and other different independence and democratic movements in Bangladesh.
Kazi Aref Ahmed had always struggled to implement the spirit and ideals of the Great War of Liberation, ensure the trial of war criminals and establish democracy in the country, the premier added.
Aref played a strong role as an activist of Chhatra League during the six-point movement led by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu in 1966, she said.
He was chief of the intelligence agency of BLF or Mujib Bahini, she said.
Sheikh Hasina said Kazi Aref Ahmed had also played strong role against all autocrats who grabbed power illegally after the killing of Bangabandhu and most of his family members.
She hoped that the new generations will engage themselves in the welfare of the people as well as the country being imbued with the ideals of Kazi Aref Ahmed.
The Prime Minister prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul of Kazi Aref Ahmed.
