DHAKA, Feb 18, 2024 (BSS)- European Union Ambassador to Dhaka Charles Whiteley today called on State Minister for Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Kujendra Lal Tripura at his office at secretariat here.

The EU envoy assured the state minister of providing all support for poverty alleviation in the CHT.

He also informed the state minister of the project jointly undertaken by the EU, Manusher Jonno Foundation and UNDP to assist about 20,000 distressed families in the hilly districts.

The projects have been taken aimed at assisting the CHT people to have climate resilient livelihood and reduce poverty, the EU envoy said.

Extending thanks to the EU ambassador, Kujendra Lal said the Awami League government has attached priority to poverty alleviation to build a ‘smart Bangladesh’.

Secretary of the ministry Md Mashiur Rahman among others was present.
