SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 19, 2024 (BSS) - Foreign Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today
said Bangladesh is maintaining diplomatic relations with different foreign
countries through its 81 foreign embassies.
"Bangladesh government is maintaining diplomatic relations with different
foreign countries through 81 foreign embassies", he said while responding to
a star-marked query raised by treasury bench lawmaker Nurunnabi Chowdhury at
the question-answer session at the Jatiya Sangsad here.
Primarily, the foreign missions of Bangladesh have started its programme
through rented houses but later instructions have given to the foreign
ministry to construct their own buildings and purchase embassy buildings
along with the land for setting up 32 foreign missions in three phases
between the period of 2016 and 2024.
At present, seventeen embassies in fourteen countries have their own
buildings which includes six buildings in five Asian countries, seven
buildings in seven European countries, one in Africa, three own missions
North America, Hasan told the session with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin
Chaudhury in the chair.
Apart from this, Bangladesh foreign Missions have their own land in Nepal,
Indonesia, Myanmar, Australia, Qatar, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Egypt.
In 2023-24, constructions of chancery complex project are now underway in
Pakistan, Bhutan, Brunei, Australia, Germany and Saudi Arabia by the Ministry
of Foreign Affairs.
