DHAKA, Feb 21, 2024 (BSS) - Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh paid glowing tribute to the martyrs of the historic Language Movement at one minute past zero hours today.

The mayor laid a wreath at the altar of the Central Shaheed Minar here.

Officials of the City Corporation and leaders of Awami League (AL) including chief executive officer of the corporation Mizanur Rahman, Dhaka South City unit of AL joint general secretary Kazi Morshed Hossain Kamal, councilor of corporation reserved seat-6 Nargis Mahtab and councilor of reserved seat-7 Shirin Ghaffer were present at the time.

On behalf of the mayor, DSCC led by regional executive officer of region-3 Babar Ali Mir, paid tribute to language martyrs Abul Barkat, Abdul Jabbar and Shafiur Rahman and architect of the Shaheed Minar Hamidur Rahman at Azimpur graveyard here at one minute past zero hours marking the 'Shaheed Dibash' (Martyrs Day) and the International Mother Language Day.
