DMP pays respect to language martyrs at Central Shaheed Minar

DHAKA, Feb 21, 2024 (BSS) - Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) paid rich
tributes to the language martyrs today on the occasion of 'Shaheed Dibash'
(Martyrs Day) and the International Mother Language Day.

Commissioner of DMP Habibur Rahman on behalf of the DMP paid respect to the
language martyrs by placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar in the city.

Meanwhile, Additional Commissioner (promoted to the post of Additional
Inspector General of Police Addl-IGP) AKM Hafiz Akhtar, Additional
Commissioner (promoted to the post of Addl-IGP) Dr Kha Mahid Uddin;
additional commissioner Md Munibur Rahman; additional commissioner and CTTC
chief Md Asaduzzaman; additional commissioner and DB chief Mohammad Harun or
Rashid; joint commissioners, deputy commissioners and others were present at
the time.

The day, February 21, is marked with the martyrdom of valiant sons of
Bangladesh for establishing Bangla as the state language of the then East
Pakistan.

The Ekushey February is the foundation of independent Bangladesh and the
foundation of Bangladesh was laid through the Language Movement of Ekushey
February under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh
Mujibur Rahman.
