Four held with 2.104 kgs of gold at HSIA

DHAKA, Feb 22, 2024 (BSS) - Members of Airport Armed Police Battalion (APBn), National Security Intelligence (NSI) and customs arrested four people along with 2.104 kgs of gold at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) here in the early hours of today.

The arrested were identified as Abdul Quadir, 41, from Munshiganj, Md Jewel Hossain, 34, and Ibrahim Khalil, 40, from Patuakhali and Khorshed Alam, 42, from Gazipur, Additional Superintendent of Armed Police Battalion (APBn) police Mohammad Ziaul Haque told BSS.

He said, being informed, they conducted a join drive and arrested the suspects who had just disembarked from a US Bangla flight arriving from Dubai at approximately 4.55am. The joint team of APBn and NSI intercepted the suspects around 6am as they attempted to pass through the green channel.

The team recovered 2.104 kgs of gold, including bars, powder, and jewelry valued at approximately Taka 1.74 crore, from their possessions after searching their bodies.

A case was filed against them with the Airport Police Station under Special Power Act.
