Nation supported development by giving mandate on January 7: MPs 

 

SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 22, 2024 (BSS) - Lawmakers today said the nation has supported the present development by giving their mandate to the present government in the January 7 national election. 

The people across the country have given their wholehearted support to the development activities carried out by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, they said,  taking part in the general discussion on a thanksgiving motion on the President's speech in the House here with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharimin Chaudhury in the chair. 

Taking part in the discussion, state minister for Shipping Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury said, “Various quarters had tried to foil the recent elections but the people across the country were united under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and extended their support in favour of the development.” 

The lawmakers, said the President in his 143-page speech projected the country's good governance, development of skilled youth forces, local government, development of indigenous people and the defense of the country. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly and has implemented dozens of development projects for turning the country into a smart one, said Illius Uddin Mollah of Dhaka-16. 

The present government led by the Awami League is working for building the country as Sonar Bangla dreamt by Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, said Muhibur Rahman Manik of Sunamganj-5. 

Ruling party lawmakers Jahangir Alam of Cumilla-3, Saimum Sarwar Kamal of Cox’s Bazar-3, Wakil Uddin of Dhaka-11, Nur Mohammad  of Jamalpur-1and Shahin Akhter of Cox’s Bazar-4, among others, spoke on the occasion . 

The lawmakers highlighted the successes of the present government in different vital sectors, including education, power, agriculture, health, infrastructure development, economy and food production sectors. 

Earlier, they paid rich tribute to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his contribution to establishing an independent Bangladesh.
