SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 25, 2024 (BSS) - Treasury bench lawmakers today said the country undoubtedly would be a developed and smart one by 2041 as all necessary basements have already been created by this time.
Bangladesh is marching forward and it would be developed and smart one under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by stipulated timeframe, said the lawmakers while taking part in the general discussion on a thanksgiving motion on the President's speech in the House with Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.
Taking part in the discussion, Fisheries and Livestock Minister Abdur Rahman said conspiracies had been designed to oust the incumbent prime minister aiming to foil the ongoing development but none could resist her (prime minister) on the way to fulfill the dream of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Now, the incumbent government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is giving topmost importance on agricultural production in line with the philosophy of Bangabandhu. The country's per capita income now reached US$2500, said the minister.
The lawmaker, however, said the President in his 143-page speech projected the country's good governance, development of skilled youth forces, local government, development small indigenous people and the defense of the country.
"Bangladesh is now a 35th economy in ranking of the world and it would be a 13th big economy by 2100", said Whip Abu Sayeed Al Mahmuud Shawpan of Joypurhat-2.
While addressing on the current development activities, Kazi Nabil Ahmed said Bangladesh has secured 35th position among the growing economy of the Asian pacific region under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Criticizing the role of BNP-Jammat, the lawmaker of Jashore-3 said BNP-Jammaat have lost their confidence on the common people and they are being engaged in terrorism while Jashore-Khulna is now becoming a third corridor after Dhaka and Chattogram with the worthy leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
Ruling party lawmakers Mahbubul Alam Hanif of Khustia-3, Ahsanul Huq Chowdhury of Rangpur-2, Mostafizur Rahman of Dinajur-5, Dr Shamiluddin Ahmed Shimul of Chapinawabganj-1 and Nizamuddin Hazari of Feni-2, among others, spoke it on the occasion.
The lawmakers highlighted the successes of the present government in different vital sectors, including education, power, agriculture, health, infrastructure development, economy and food production sectors.
Earlier, they paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman for his contribution to establishing an independent Bangladesh.
