DHAKA, Sept 15, 2021 (BSS) - Minister for Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Md Tajul Islam today said the Detailed Area Plan (DAP) will be finalized and published in the form of a gazette by December or January next.
"In order to finalize the DAP, we have already met with all stakeholders including urban planners, architects and all those involved in DAP. If all goes well, the DAP will be finalized and published in the form of a gazette by next December or January," he told a meeting of the technical committee set up for DAP related matters at the conference room of the local government division here.
The minister, also the convener of the DAP Implementation Review Committee, said that the process is underway to publish the gazette after finalizing DAP.
He said more than one crore people live in Dhaka city and without proper planning and out of order, many infrastructures have been built in this city which has tarnished the beauty of the capital.
In this regard, he further said that the buildings are not constructed as per the design in this city.
Large buildings were constructed by occupying government canals and water bodies and such activities cannot be allowed to happen again in future, he added.
Buildings must be constructed in accordance with the design and building codes, he continued.
He also called upon the concerned people including engineers to become aware and play a role in the construction of the buildings in the city.
If DAP is implemented after finalization, many changes will come in Dhaka city, he hoped.
Secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works Md Shahid Ullah Khandaker, Managing Director of Dhaka WASA Taqsem Khan and DAP Project Director Ashraful Islam along with representatives of concerned ministries, divisions, departments and agencies were also present there.
