SANGSAD BHABAN, Feb 27, 2024 (BSS) - Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today said the government has taken up a plan to construct paddy silos across the country with a target to enhance paddy storage facilities.

"The government has taken a plan to construct paddy silos for enhancing storage facilities of paddy", said the minister while responding to a star-marked question raised by Sajjadul Huq on behalf of treasury bench lawmaker M Mamunur Rashid Kiron of Noakhali-3 during the question-answer session at the Jatiya Sangsad here.

The government has taken modern paddy silo construction as a pilot project -- which is equipped with various facilities including drying, storage -- at different places across the country, the minister told the session chaired by Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury.

Under the project, a total of 30 silos will be constructed.
