DHAKA, Feb 27, 2024 (BSS) - Civil aviation and tourism minister Muhammad
Faruk Khan today paid a visit at the Sylhet Osmani International airport to
supervise ongoing development work and gave orders to expedite it.
Later, the minister held a meeting with the officials of the Osmani
International airport and asked to finish the development project within its
due time, December-2025, a press release said here.
Civil Aviation and Tourism Secretary Md Mokammel Hossain, Civil Aviation
Authority, Bangladesh (CAAB) Chairman Air vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman and
Project Director Md. Anisur Rahman were present, among others.
The work of strengthening the existing runway and taxiway of Sylhet Osmani
International Airport already completed with expenditure of Taka 451.98 crore
for operating wide body aircraft like Boeing-777 and more modernizing
projects are being implemented with expenditure of Taka 2,309 crore.
Faruk Khan also met with the Sylhet Awami League leaders and later he offered
ziarat at the shrines of Hazrat Shahjalal (RA).
Besides, the minister joined a seminar titled "Tourism for Building Smart
Bangladesh and Investment Opportunity for NRB's" as the chief guest organized
by Desh Foundation-UK.
