DHAKA, March 1, 2024 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, MP, today urged all people to play a responsible role in ensuring fire safety measures in all buildings.

"All building owners should maintain fire safety laws and abide by building codes to make people safe from fire," he said while speaking at a namaz-e-janaza of teacher of Viqarunnisa Noon School and College Lutfun Nahar Karim and her daughter Jannati Tajrin Nikita, a student of Brac University, in the city's Bailey Road area.

Praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveying deep sympathy to the bereaved family, Nasim said, "Lutfun was an honest and skilled teacher . . . The nation has lost a skilled teacher at her death."

Lutfun Nahar was among the 46 people, who were killed in the devastating fire at a commercial building in Bailey Road area here on Thursday night.
