DHAKA, March 2, 2024 (BSS) - Mayor of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh has said that many people were killed and many others hospitalized in the Bailey Road fire incident due to non-compliance of building construction regulations.

DSCC Mayor told a view-exchange meeting with the media after visiting the destroyed commercial building on Bailey Road here on Saturday, an official release said here today.

He also visited the critically injured people of the tragic fire incident at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery here.

Taposh hoped that the building construction and reconstruction regulations sent by DSCC to the government would be quickly approved.

Dhaka South City unit of Awami League (AL) General Secretary Humayun Kabir, Corporation's Chief Executive Officer Md Mizanur Rahman, Secretary Akramuzzaman and several ward councilors were present, among others, on the occasion.
