Putin has clear plan of country's development, 85% of Russians say

MOSCOW, March 3, 2024 (BSS/TASS) - Over 80% of Russians polled who followed Russian President Vladimir Putin's annual State of the Nation Address to the Federal Assembly, think that the incumbent president has a clear plan of the country's development for several years ahead and is capable of implementing it, according to a nationwide survey conducted by Russia's top pollster.

The poll was conducted by the Russian Public Opinion Research Center (VCIOM) among 1,600 adult Russians on March 1.

"Among those who followed the address, 85% said that Putin has a clear plan of action and a strategy for the country's development for several years ahead. Every tenth respondent (10%) thought that there are no strategy or plan," the agency said in a statement. The majority of those surveyed, 86%, think that the president can implement this plan fully or partially, and every second person was completely sure of it.

The State of the Nation Address to the Federal Assembly took place on February 29 and lasted over two hours. Out of those who followed it, 86% said that the address made a positive impression with every second respondent expressing complete certainty. Every second respondent who listened to the address liked all the ideas and proposals voiced by the Russian leader. The Russians particularly approved of such subjects as support for young families (21%), infrastructure and new housing and roads (13%) and the "Family," "Long and Active Life" and "Human Resources" national projects, among others (12%).

Generally, those polled had a positive attitude toward the address. Their emotions included "trust (36%), hope (35%), sense of security (33%), respect (32%) and pride (29%)," according to the survey results.
