MANIKGANJ, March 4, 2024 (BSS) - Prof. Dr. AZM Shakhawat Hossain of Gilando Monno Medical College and Hospital was killed when his car collided head-on with a passenger bus near Bhatbaoir on the Dhaka-Aricha highway in Manikganj Sadar upazila this morning.
 
Son of late Dr MA Kashem, a close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the then MNA and Member of Parliament from Madaripur, Dr Shakhawat was head of the department of surgery at Monno Medical College and Hospital.
 
He was seriously injured when his car collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound speedy passenger bus at 7.45 am. 
 
He was rushed to Dhaka Evercare Hospital and immediately after his admission, the duty doctor declared him dead.
 
Dr. Shakhawat, 64, brother of minister (Press) of Bangladesh Embassy in Washington AZM Sajjad Hossain Sabuj, was former vice-principal of Sir Salimullah Medical College and ex-Principal of Bangladesh Medical College.
