DHAKA, March 5, 2024 (BSS) - Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury and Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Samanta Lal Sen today held a joint meeting with a delegation of global organisation 'Resolve to Save Lives' aiming to discuss collaborative strategies.
State Minister for Health and Family Welfare Dr Rokeya Sultana, President and CEO of Resolve to Save Lives Tom Frieden, and the former director of the United States Center for Disease Control and Prevention, the former commissioner of the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, and Director General of Directorate General of Health Services Prof Dr Abul Bashar Mohammed Khurshid Alam were also present, among others, at the meeting.
The meeting focused on joint efforts to tackle non-communicable diseases (NCDs) stemming from environmental pollution, such as cancer, diabetes, and hypertension.
Recognising the government's responsibility to safeguard public health, they emphasised proactive measures to address these health concerns.
The Bangladesh government expressed sincerity to consider proposals outlined in a concept paper from Resolve to Save Lives, outlining potential collaboration opportunities within the country.
