DHAKA, March 5, 2024 (BSS) - Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has asked to take quick action against people hoarding and unnecessarily hiking price of essential commodities to create an unstable situation in the country.

“We would take action under Special Powers Act against such people. This act was enacted in 1974 for this specific reason, “ he said.

The law minister was addressing newsmen at Osmani Memorial Auditorium after the end of third day session of ongoing DC Conference.

“I have sought assistance of the deputy commissioners for easing case backlog.  I have told them that speedy step would be taken to dispose of quickly a case regarding mobile court,” he said.

The law minister further said DCs have raised some specific questions and the secretary has answered to those.
