Saber for effectively dealing with environment and forest-related complaints

DHAKA, Mar 11, 2024 (BSS)  - Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury today stressed  the need for effectively dealing with environment and forest related complaints,  lodged by aggrieved persons.  

He asked the authorities concerned to take proper steps to enhance the system and address complaints received through the national hotline number 333-4.

The minister also called for regular monitoring of grievance  redress   system, ensuring swift resolution and subsequent evaluation of complainants' satisfaction.

The minister came up with the directives while addressing a meeting convened to assess the progress of smart ministry transformation programme.

The meeting was held at the ministry's conference  room at the Bangladesh Secretariat, highlighted the government's commitment to efficient administration in environmental matters.

Saber Hossain Chowdhury urged all  to utilize the National Call Centre 333 to report environmental and forest-related complaints.  

He advocated for the customization and utilization of the grievance redress  system (GRS) software provided by the Cabinet Division aiming to streamline ministry's activities.  

Saber has set a target for the full implementation of the 333-4 environment-related complaints settlement process by March this year.  

In addition, he emphasised the redesign of the ministry's website to enhance accessibility for public.

The meeting was attended, among others, by Additional Secretary (Administration) of the ministry Iqbal Abdullah Harun, Director General of the Department of Environment (DoE) Dr. Abdul Hamid, Joint Secretary (Climate Change) Lubna Yasmine  , Joint Secretary (Environment) Mohammad Abdul Wadud Chowdhury, and Joint Secretary (Forest) Shahanara Begum and Conservator of Forest (Administration) Abdul Awal Sarkar.
