Women and Children Affairs Ministry to observe Bangabandhu's birth anniversary

DHAKA, March 14, 2024 (BSS) – The Women and Children Affairs Ministry has arranged elaborate programs marking the 104th birthday of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day to be celebrated on March 17 across the country.

State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Simeen Hussain Rimi today said this at a press conference held at the Press Information Department (PID) in the Secretariat here.

She said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman used to say, "Today’s children are tomorrow’s future, and the children must be exploitation and discrimination-free as well as possess advanced thinking."

Bangabandhu had made children law in 1974, she said.

Mentioning that Bangabandhu nationalized 36,165 primary schools across the country in 1973, she said, "Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly to implement the dream of her father.

Besides, Sheikh Hasina had nationalized 26,193 schools and created 120,000 teachers' jobs.

As a part of the day's program, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will pay rich tribute to Bangabandhu by placing wreaths at his mausoleum.

Besides, different organizations, including the Awami League, will pay rich tribute to the Father of the Nation by placing a wreath at his portrait in front of the Bangabandhu Memorial Museum in the city’s Dhanmondi-32.

A discussion meeting will also be held on March 17 at Tungipara, where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will present as the chief guest.

Besides, the Prime Minister will provide Tk 5,20,000 among the 104 brilliant students in Gopalganj district, marking the day.

Apart from this, various programs will be held throughout the day in Tungipara and elsewhere across the country.
