TANGAIL, March 19, 2024 (BSS) - A Chhatra League leader was hacked to death by a gang of unidentified miscreants in Nagarpur upazila of the district last night.

The deceased was identified as Jahid Khan Jhalok, hailed from Salimabad Modhdhopara village in the upazila. He was the organizing secretary of Nagarpur Upazila Chhatra League. Jahid was a 3rd year student at Government Maulana Mohammad Ali College.

The incident occurred at around 9:30 pm last night when Jahid was returning home from village mosque offering Tarweeh prayers.

Police arrested three people in connection with the murder last night, said Officer-in-Charge of Nagarpur Thana Hasan Jahid.

The arrestees are Rana, 22, Jihad, 19 and Emon, 19. Rana and Jihad, who are siblings, were arrested in Manikganj while Emon was nabbed from the village.

Jahid's father filed a case accusing nine known people and a few unknown people with Nagarpur police station.
