DHAKA, March 21, 2024 (BSS) - Japanese ambassador Iwama Kiminori paid a courtesy call on Youth and Sports Minister Nazmul Hassan, MP, at his secretariat office today.
Iwama congratulated Nazmul Hassan on assuming charge as Minister of Youth and Sports. The ambassador also praised him for successfully leading Bangladesh cricket for long time.
The ambassador said, “Japan has excellent friendly relations with Bangladesh. Japan also wants to help Bangladesh in the field of sports. This year Japan will send skilled and experienced football coaches to Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Prothistan. We are giving hundred volleyballs and fifty footballs to Bangladesh as a symbol of friendship between the two countries”.
The sports minister thanked the ambassador, saying: “Football and cricket are two very popular sports in Bangladesh. Archery, Shooting, Hockey, Badminton, Table Tennis, Kabaddi are also potential sports of Bangladesh. Bangladesh is doing well in judo karate, gymnastics, volleyball and we’ have plan to organize the Commonwealth Karate Championship in Dhaka this year”.
After the meeting, the ambassador handed over hundred of volleyballs and fifty footballs as a sign of friendship to the sports minister on behalf of Japan.
Youth and sports secretary Dr. Mohiuddin Ahmed and senior officials of the ministry and embassy were also present there.
