DHAKA, April 8, 2024 (BSS) - Around six lakh people have purchased meat, eggs and milk at reasonable prices till 27th Ramadan which was began on March 10 aiming to ensure consumers' easy access to essential animal proteins during the holy month.
The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock (MoFL) has started the selling of animal proteins at 35 districts including Dhaka, said a release here.
A total of 5.91 lakh and 971 people have purchased the essentials.
The other districts are Chattogram, Cumilla, Noakhali (Senbagh), Feni, Laxmipur, Brahmanbaria, Chandpur, Bandarban, Rangamati, Rajshahi, Narsingdi, Tangail, Faridpur, Joypurhat, Natore, Bogura, Chapainawabganj, Bagerhat, Magura, Chuadanga, Meherpur, Nilphamari, Panchagarh, Patuakhali, Pabna, Sirajganj, Jamalpur, Mymensingh, Kustia, Jeshore, Satkhira, Rangpur, Moulavibazar and Nogaon (Badolgachi).
The prices of those essentials were different at other districts except Dhaka, it said.
It said 1.99 lakh 168 kilograms of beef, 5,131 kilograms of mutton, 2.16 lakh 427 kilograms of dressed broiler, 2.38 lakh 861 liters of milk and 42.9 lakh 356 eggs were sold till now.
The project has been implemented under the Department of Livestock Services with the association of Dairy Development Project, Bangladesh Dairy Farmers Association, Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council and other stakeholders.
