CHAPAINAWABGANJ, April 15, 2024 (BSS): A total of 43 candidates today submitted nomination papers for contesting in the upcoming upazila elections to be held on May 8 in three upazilas of the district. 

These three upazilas are-Nachole, Gomostapur and Bholahat.

A total of 16 candidates submitted nomination papers to contest the polls in post of Chairman, 15 candidates for the post of Vice Chairman and 12 for the post of Women Vice Chairman, Chapainawabganj District Election Office sources said. 

According to the sources, in Nachole upazila, a total of 10 candidates in which three for the post of Chairman, four for the post of Vice Chairman and three others for the post Women Vice Chairman have submitted their nomination papers. 

In Gomostapur upazila, a total of 19 candidates of which six for the post of Chairman, seven for the post of Vice Chairman and six others for the post of Women Vice Chairman have submitted their nomination papers, the sources added. 

The sources further said, a total of 14 candidates have submitted their nomination papers in Bholahat upazila. Of them, seven candidates filed nomination papers for the post of Chairman, four candidates for the post of Vice Chairman and three others for the post of Women Vice Chairman.
