DHAKA, April 16, 2024 (BSS) - The 53rd martyrdom day of Shaheed Freedom Fighter and Intellectual Lieutenant Colonel M. Abdul Qadir of the Corps of Engineers will be marked on Wednesday (April 17) with special prayers and a milad mahfil. 

The prayers will be held at the Qadirabad Cantonment, which is named after him and where he was re-buried with state honor in 2011.
His elder son, journalist and author Nadeem Qadir, has requested his friends and family to pray for the martyr.

He was killed in Chattogarm on this day in 1971 by the Pakistani Army.
