TANGAIL, April 16, 2024 (BSS) – Hindu devotees today performed Ashtami Snan, a ritual of bathing in the waters of River Jamuna under Bhuapur upazila of the district today.
Thousands of Hindu devotees from different parts of the surrounding districts started to gather on the banks of the River Jamuna in Khanurbari Soratola area for bathing from early morning on Tuesday. According to Hindu mythology, taking a dip in the river during a specific lunar period purifies sins and earns religious merit.
A Mela was also organized on the bank of the River centering the holy bath.
General Secretary of the Ashtami Snan Utsob Abhijit Ghosh said Prasad will be distributed among the devotees. Officer-in-Charge of Bhuapur Thana Ahosan Ullah said necessary measures have been taken for their security.
