RAJSHAHI, April 26, 2024 (BSS) - The 11th biannual conference of history alumni association of Rajshahi University (RU) was held at its campus here today with the call for more study and research in the applied field of history.
 
Prof Sanat Kumar Saha addressed the opening ceremony at Senate Bhaban as chief guest, while Vice-chancellor (VC) Prof Golam Sabbir Sattar spoke as guest of honour with the association president Prof Mahbubur Rahman in the chair.

Pro-VCs Prof Sultan-Ul-Islam and Prof Humayun Kabir also spoke. Chairman of the Department of History Prof Ferdousi Khatun welcomed the participants.

On the occasion, Prof Chittaranjan Mishra was given life-time award as recognition of his laudable contribution to the field of history education and research. Besides, Adila Akter Nipa (2020) and Subasta Naim (2021) were given prizes for their brilliant result in their respective BA (Honours) examination.

Earlier in the morning, association president opened the two-day conference through hoisting of flags along with releasing festoons and pigeons at the premises of Dr Shahidullah Academic building.

Later, they brought out a colourful rally and paraded the campus.

Around 300 alumni are taking part in the biannual conference.
