DHAKA, April 28, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today sentenced a drug peddler to four years rigorous imprisonment in a narcotics case in 2016.
 
Dhaka Special Judge Court No-9 Judge Sheikh Hafizur Rahman pronounced the verdict.
 
The convicted man is M. Palash, 33, son of late Bachchu Sheikh of Noor Bagh Street near Dholaipar Bazar area under the city's Kadmatoli Police Station.
 
The court also fined him Taka 40,000, in default, to suffer one month more in jail.
 
According to the prosecution, on September 29, 2016, police arrested drug dealer M. Palash with 20 bottles of phensidyl during a raid in Dholairpar market in Kadamtali area of the Old Town in the city.
 
On the same day, SI Tauhidul Islam filed a case with Kadmatoli Police Station.
 
After investigating the case, SI Dipankar Mandal of Kadmatoli Police Station submitted charge-sheet to the court on October 30 of the same year.
