DHAKA, April 29, 2024 (BSS) - The High Court today ordered the government to keep all primary and secondary schools and madrasahs shut till Thursday (May 2) amid the ongoing heat wave.
The HC bench of Justice K. M. Kamrul Kader and Justice Khizir Hayat gave the suo moto order.
However, those schools that have air conditioning (AC) systems, O level, A level exams, colleges, universities will remain out of the purview of the order, said Supreme Court lawyer Manir Uddin.
Manir Uddin drew the attention of the HC about the newspaper reports about death and sickness of people at different places of the country during the ongoing heatwave.
He also informed the HC that students of schools and madrasahs are in risk amid the heatwave.
Taking the reports into cognizance, the HC passed the suo moto order.
