DHAKA, April 30, 2024 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) relief and social welfare sub-committee today started distributing fresh water and oral saline among common people and day laborers.

AL Organizing Secretary Mirza Azam, MP, inaugurated the programme in city's Jhigatala area around 11am.

"Awami League has always stood by the people in calamities and crises. In continuation of this, under the instruction of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, we have stood by the laborers and general people with the initiative of relief and social welfare sub- committee," Mirza Azam said.

AL's relief and social welfare secretary Aminul Islam Amin said, "This activity of our sub-committee will continue until decrees the heat wave intensity."

Fresh water and oral saline will be distributed at six spots in Bangabandhu Avenue, Jhigatala, Motijheel, Mirpur-10, Gulshan and Berayed area from 11am to 3 pm every day, he said.

Awami League Organizing Secretary SM Kamal Hossain, Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan and former General Secretary of Bangladesh Chhatra League Ishaque Ali Khan Panna were present.
