Bangabandhu was always vocal against discrimination in society: Food Minister

 

NAOGAON, May 1, 2024 (BSS)- Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today said
Bangabandhu was always vocal against the discrimination as he was pledge-
bound for the welfare of the poor people.

"Bangabandhu had cleared his position by taking side on behalf of the working
class people while he had addressed at the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit,
Algiers in 1973," he said.

The minister said this while speaking at a discussion in the district Awami
League Office here this morning marking the "May Day".

While addressing at the NAM Summit, Bangabandhu said, "The world today is
divided into two parts-- the exploiters and the exploited. I am on the side
of the exploited", said the minister.

Bangabandhu was more conscious about the fair rights of the deprived people,
otherwise equality will not be established in the society, the minister said.

The function was organised by Jatiya Sramik League of Naogaon district.

Highlighting the contribution of the workers in the country's economy,
Majumder said: "Workers are the driving force of the economy. So, we have to
provide a working friendly environment to them."

Improved environment will help to expedite the working skill of the workers
and also output of the organization as a whole, he added.

Explaining the country's present food situation, the food minister said
"Bangladesh now becomes a food sufficient country and the situation has been
achieved in line with the Bangabandhu's strong confidence which emerged the
war ravaged country into a food surplus one."

Elaborating on the incumbent Prime Minister's role on welfare of the working
people, he said the workers friendly Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has raised
the wages of the working people. Now Bangladesh is moving towards being a
smart one due to hard working of the laborer at home and abroad, the food
minister added.

Lawmaker of the Naogaon Sadar constituency Barrister Nizam Uddin Jalil also
spoke as special guest on the ocassion.
