DHAKA, May 9, 2024 (BSS) - A high-level probe committee was formed to investigate into the Bangladesh Air Force (BAF) trainer aircraft crash in Patenga area in Chattogram this morning, leaving one dead.
The BAF formed the committee at the directive of Chief of Air Staff of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan , said an Inter Service Public Relations Directorate (ISPR) here.
Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Plans) Air Vice Marshal Muhammad Kamrul Islam rushed to the spot and gave necessary directives to all concerned over the rescue operation.
Air Officer Commanding of BAF Base Zahurul Haque Air Vice Marshal AKM Shafiul Azam is supervising the post-accident activities.
The YAK130 training aircraft of the BAF crashed in Chattogram's Patenga area around 11 am today due to mechanical glitch.
Two pilots on board managed to eject from the aircraft with injuries and they were taken to hospital.
Squadron Leader Asim Jawad, one of the two pilots who were injured from the aircraft crash, died at BNS Patenga Hospital this noon.
