DHAKA, May 14, 2024 (BSS) – Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) Dr Abdul Malek today called upon the respective authorities to release information voluntarily according to the Right to Information Act.

He made the call at the training program on Right to Information Act, 2009 at Keraniganj upazila in Dhaka district as the chief guest, a press release said.

Dr Malek said that pure and authentic information is a must for people.

Providing accurate information plays an important role in enhancing transparency and accountability, he said, adding that disinformation, false-fabricated and hate-mongering information and rumors on various social media platforms cum unedited platforms create fear in people’s mindset.

It also increases violence, which can only be dispelled by the flow of genuine and pure information, he said.

Officials of different departments of Keraniganj Upazila, members of Upazila Committee on Implementation and Monitoring of Right to Information Act, public representatives, journalists, teachers and NGO representatives were present in the training program.

Besides, Malek also spoke at the training program on Right to Information Act, 2009 in Dohar upazila in Dhaka district as the chief guest.
